VAL D'ISERElegendary resort and authentic village

An exceptional setting

Val d'Isère, located in the Tarentaise valley in the heart of the French Alps, enjoys an international reputation. Considered one of the most prestigious ski resorts in the Alps, the village nestles at an altitude of 1850 m in the heart of the mountains (Bellevarde, Solaise and other massifs including Pissaillas). The charm of this village lies in its authentic, warm Savoyard architecture, with its mix of modern and traditional buildings. The historic center and main street are the hub of Val d'Isère life, with a concentration of stores and boutiques. Enjoy the natural setting of the Vanoise National Park in both winter and summer; in summer, the hiking trails will take you close to exceptional flora and fauna. The natural wealth of flora and fauna, glaciers, lakes, torrents and rivers means you can enjoy a multitude of activities including hiking, mountain biking, climbing and fishing. Val d'Isère is also an ideal stopover on the Grandes Alpes route, and for crossing the Iseran pass whether by bike, motorcycle or car.

The ski area

The Espace Killy, with its 300km of pistes, straddles the Tignes and Val d'Isère resorts. It's possible to ski from the summit of the Grande Motte glacier at 3450 m to the lowest point in the village of Les Brévières at 1550 m, with pistes for all levels (beginner zones, green/blue/red/black runs). Freeride is also in the spotlight, with two snow parks. Guides and instructors are also on hand to help you discover the area's many virgin slopes (ski touring or simple off-piste).
Cross-country ski trails and footpaths are also groomed in the Manche valley and on the Daille plain.
Winter is long in the Northern Alps: in Val d'Isère it lasts over 150 days, starting in late November and ending in early May.
